Dog Bite Injury

Interestingly enough, the state of Missouri does not have any dog bite or dangerous dog statutes. Still, you can recover damages for personal injuries from dog bites against a dog owner, assuming the attack occurred while you were on public property or lawfully on private property. In every state, dog owners are legally liable for bites to people inflicted viciously by a dog that previously bit a person viciously. In most states, victims can recover compensation even for the first bite by a dog, whether or not the owner was negligent, but you may have questions. Was there negligence? What will happen to the dog? How do I find out if the person liable is insured? Who will pay for damages? What kinds of things will be paid for?

At Kullmann, Klein & Dioneda, P.C we have answers for those questions. In fact, we probably have answers for questions you haven’t even thought of yet. Like whether the dog has previously bitten someone, whether the dog has done something in the past that should have made the owner aware that there might be a problem, who was in charge at the time of the accident, and whether there was negligence, where the dog was suffering from mistreatment, illness or a painful injury or disease. Remember, you do have legal recourse if you or a loved one has been bitten.  Contact us online or call 1-800-536-8844 and get answers now.
