Head/Spinal Cord Injuries

These are injuries of the nerves or bones in your spine. There are four sections in your spine. From top to bottom they are named the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral sections.  The location of the injury along the spinal cord is usually a good indicator of how severe the disability is.  There can be incomplete or complete nerve damage. Resulting conditions can range from loss of motor skills, paraplegia and quadriplegia, and, in some cases, death. Often, these injuries are the consequence of car and motorcycle, tractor-trailer, slip and fall cases, and boating accidents. Although scientists are developing new techniques designed to allow damaged spinal cord nerves to regenerate to some degree, there is currently no cure for most spinal cord damage and treatment is usually designed to prevent further damage.
